March 4th, 2007...14.6 @95mph run in a 2.2L Cobalt, then on the 3rd run of the day, a faulty window switch lead to a fuel puddling issue which caused a nitrous backfire and ended the race day for me.

Hey...you got a 14.69 I would be happy....in the future many parts in our engines will be made of plastic or carbon fiber mixtures....the stuff not strong enough to survive mishaps like yours, but if there was no backfire it would be fine, and running low 14's...guess we have to wait for progress.....but great video...keep the faith....

Time for the aftermarket to make a METAL replacement manifold for the crappy plastic one, these plastic parts are made to save money and weight but if your going to race anything with plastic on the engine you need to replace any plastic crap and make your engine bullet proof. I THUOGHT GM WAS DONE USING PLASTIC PIECES ON VITAL ENGINE PARTS! Lame... anything to save a manufacturing buck!

hey a car is a car, whatever you want to build up, anything can be fast, like the guy said below a dodge shadow, infact theres i think a shelby dodge shadow that was released but it was rare, the thing does 13 seconds stock, so add some nos to that and it would break 12s. on the street, that colbalt would shit on alot of cars, stock mustangs with crappy drivers do that time, so any regular civic or whatever would be smacked down quick unless it was turbo. hope to see it back soon

idk what the hell those numbers mean but stage 2 and stage 3 what?? all nitrous is illegal on the roads in the US, and there is no 7.3 on the face of this earth making more then 900hp (at the wheels, and i'm not including any p-pump or WOP dragsters in this :-P ).... the WOP dragster is looking for 1400hp at the flywheel or roughly 1150hp at the wheels...

it saddens me that some people are allowed to have the freedom of speech... seriously... a lot of the highest hp diesels use nitrous, chris werner used i believe it was 4 stages when he hit 1451hp... NOONE in the competitive diesel world uses propane, they either use nitrous, water/meth, or just straight #2... and danny elmore (this truck) had a VERY powerful 7.3... one of the highest hp 7.3s ever built... yeah, except its not pressurising the intake manifold. combining a turbo/blower setup w a properly tuned nitrous system is a real good way to make power, cooling down the hot compressed air from the turbo. ofcoarse if youre running factory pistons then that might be a bit much BMEP for that weak aluminum to handle

pure oxygen can be used it is way powerful than N20 in fact because oxygen burns 185% faster than gas it makes the engine to blow ......(had that experience) u can use oxygen but u need at least 5000$ to install such a sistem because u dont find it and forged pistons and reforged engine that costs........25000$ or so ...even then u have the risk to blow the engine putting N20 is cheaper way cheaper hope it helped :D

why do we still insist on referring to size of nitrous to hp, when one size doesnt make the same hp for each car, but is based on a lot of factor. Why not refer there size to mass/time. Or flow, like lbs per sec, or probly oz/sec a 75hp shot NEVER makes 75 hp so why do we insist on this ridiculous label?

What these guys were doing is screwing around with a rental car and putting nitrous on it to have some fun, before obviously returning it WITHOUT the nitrous. If the rental company found out they were messing with the car like this, they'd be in trouble and probably have to pay some money for potential damage.

It is possible to get a result like that but generally it is seen in single cam profile setups (non vtec). It really only happens when a cam isnt timed correctly or if the tuner decides to advance cam timing. A large increase in bottom end, a small increase in top end. Also consider the fact that a return-style fuel injection system can reciprocate for large fuel pressure losses at lower engine speeds even though manifold pressure is the same at low speed and high speed at wide open throttle.

Ive lost respect for honda ever since i beat an older accord with an H22 swap with my 92 jetta 1.8 8valve. I feel like a "quick honda" isnt very hard to beat with a "slow volkswagen". I also embarassed a kid in an H22 prelude at new england dragway with my 2008 ford ranger 2.3L. Quit driving egg shells with mosquitos inside and drive a real car. "quick hondas are like unicorns, they tell me they exist, but havent seen one yet".

...Getting MORE than the shot is called for because your engine is built? No. A built engine will make more power from a 75 shot than a stock engine. But a built engine wont make 90 hp out of it while a stock one makes 75. The average 65 shot of nitrous on a stock engine will only make an extra 35 hp at the wheels. And another thing to note for the thunderbird guy, whats quick to some people will feel like a granny car to others.

firstly, there are no videos on you tube of any go karts with NOS, they are all bunch of kids who want people to think that. secondly, small engines are not made to handle NOS, even with a small amount there would be no point because it would have such a small effect. anything noticeable would probably destroy the engine.

people seriously believe this lol its funny and it looks kick ass but in reality you cant do this without an engine that can withstand the NOS injection. If you really shot NOS into an engine like that it would either blow up or melt all the internals.
