what rappers do is not true music, all they education on is how to use the drum machines and samplers to get their beats and cheap melodies. Rapping is something you learn to do. However, Its not something you get a formal education in doing. I am a musician myself and was born with the talent, no education needed. If you have to be educated to make music, then how do you explain a 3 year old music genius who plays better than a pro without any lessons whatsoever?

Michael Crawford gave the Phantom plenty of character "LarsUlrichFan1988". I've seen MC and the film version. Mike got all the awards because he is such an amazing actor...especially in Phantom. I didn't mean to come back on here but several of your messages posted on my email. I do respect both guys as actors in general...just in different roles and I agree that the comparing thing should stop. Hopefully the film fans can respect MC to and quit with the comparing and just enjoy who they like.

Well, I dont know if he ever played in a musical onstage, I know that he played in theatre before he went to film. But he said in an interview [it's here on youtube, it's called 'Gerard Butler (Behind the scenes of Phantom)'] that he never had a singing lesson before phantom and he didn't know if he could do it. He was in a rockband, but apparently hes no professional trained singer.

Therefore, in the movie production he is able to tranfer feelings, emotions etc with his eyes, with a whisper or other things which woulndt be recognized onstage because they're to 'small' to be seen/heard by the audience. I've seen and heard Michael Crawford, of course not in Real life, but here on Youtube and so on. And I agree with you, he made a great phantom. When it comes to singing and performance its not fair to compare both, Crawford and Butler. Crawford did the stage version, he has an 'opera'voice. Gerard Butler is mainly an actor and not a trained singer. I personally prefer Gerard Butler because IMO his not-opera-voice gives his part more character.But his voice is not the voice for a musical stage.
