mhm.. devastating... even though I went to Galveston on Thursday for thanksgiving... it was horrible. It looked like a warzone.. all the plants were just dead. I even saw a boat by this restaurant about 2 miles off the coast! Buildings were just ripped apart... and the beach is basically gone. I feel so bad for Galveston. I thank God that my grandpas house had no damage or flooding whatsoever!

The problem with establishing how serious a battle, campaign or conflict generally is with the word 'casualties' because that includes wounded, missing and captured as well as killed. According to wikipedia, there were 22,717 total casualties at Antietam, of which 3,654 were killed in action. Missing usually means killed though, so the figure is probably higher. Terrible battle.

If you go by deaths, it was, as far as natural disasters. Antietam was some 20k "Americans" in 1 day; about half that if you only count the Federal side. Galveston was low estimate 8000, higher around 12k. Definitely very bad for deaths.

by your words i dont think you live in a hurricane prone area, i was in new orleans for katrina and have lived most of my life on the gulf coast. you have to understand two days out, thats when most people evacuate and its not an exact science more like a guess for news weather. katrina was horrible but it could of been prevented with better levees or the storm going 50 miles east. either way fuck you I've never ran from a hurricane and never will.

About 8,000 people died from this storm. so many people died because instead of looking for cover hundreds of people stood on the beach waiting for the storm to come so they could marvel at the waves. they had no idea how big it was or that it would be the last thing they ever saw. Kinda eerie!

Thanks for saying that... to answer your question - the footage was recorded using an Archos AV380 using the camera attachment. This records straight to mp4. Editing was done using a program called 'muvee' which ages and synchs the film to music. All very basic but dead simple and produces good results (after a bit of trial and error). Have a look at some of the other vids I've put on You Tube... all done the same way. Cheers, Mark.

The "unfortunate" name was carefully chosen by Australia's two most iconoclastic comedians. Like most of their work it has a double meaning. If the prudes complain that it is a reference to sodomy, Roy & HG just reply that buggery in the Australian idiom means somewhere distant and isolated. As in: "We had to go all the way to buggery to find their place." It's an Aussie thing. We don't take other people's sensibilties to heart. Take us as you find us mate or go to buggery.

What an amazing portrait in words. In less than three minutes we are transported from our cars or living rooms to a windswept beach in Texas, and then to a battlefield in VietNam, and then back home again. Webb was a genius. They don't write songs like this anymore.

this song is not about any war in particular, but about the hell that one man goes through in the middle of war. He's alone, he's afraid of dying. He's only dreaming of the life he left behind and the love he still hopes is waiting for him. This song is not anti-war in what it says, but rather in what it doesn't say.
